<p>Is imitation really the highest form of flattery? Or is it just lazy design? What I&#8217;m referring to in this case are the two logos below. The first is for the TV series <a title="Heroes" href="http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/" target="_blank">Heroes</a>  and the second is for <a title="Knowing" href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0448011/" target="_blank">Knowing</a>, a new film with Nicolas Cage. </p>
<p><a href="http://989design.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/heroes-logo.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-457" title="heroes-logo" src="http://989design.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/heroes-logo.jpg" alt="Heroes Logo" width="400" height="102" /></a><a href="http://989design.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/knowing-logo.jpg"></a></p>
<p><a href="http://989design.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/knowing-logo.jpg"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-458" title="knowing-logo" src="http://989design.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/knowing-logo.jpg" alt="Knowing Logo" width="400" height="146" /></a></p>
<p>I know they aren&#8217;t exactly the same, but they&#8217;re both using the same <a title="penumbra" href="http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/penumbra" target="_blank">penumbra</a>-type effect. (Admit it, you&#8217;re impressed that I know the word penumbra, aren&#8217;t you?) Heroes was all about saving the world from destruction and from the looks of Knowing, it&#8217;s got some of the same themes.</p>
<p>I think I&#8217;m going to start designing all of my logos based on the Heroes logo. Check back later this week for some Heroes-style work.</p>
